FOAM FIRE HYDRANT

We design and install units actuating manual fire hydrants in sizes ranging between 50 and 2,000 litres, of mobile or fixed type (stationary), connectible through a foam mixer to the fire hydrant or actuating mobile foam monitors.

The two photos below show a fire hydrant performing extinguishing with 1,000 litres of AFFF/AR foam- generating material, with a jet nozzle type foam adding-mixing device working with a foam concentrate of 3%, with a hand-operated heavy foam jet nozzle, which has a throughput of 200 litres/min and which can be handled using a fork lift or mounted on a platform cart that can be pulled manually or by a traction machine. It can be connected to a fire hydrant equipped with "B" or "C" Storz coupling.

MEASURING THE GAS INTEGRITY TO OPTIMISE GAS EXTINGUISHER

EXAMINING THE INTEGRITY

Brief description of the DOORFAN TEST:
In conducting the room integrity (doorfan test) we examine, during the flooding of the rooms with integrated extinguishing gases, how long after the formation of the extinguishing concentration that complies with the designed ratio they are able to maintain the extinguishing concentration up to the minimum protected height. The period prescribed by the Standards MSZ EN 15004 for maintaining the concentration is 10 minutes.

THE MEASURING PROCESS

Prior to beginning the measurement, all openings must be sealed. The fan, along with its special frame of adjustable size, is inserted into the door opening.
Steps to be followed when carrying out the test:

  1. select extinguishing gas parameters, conduct calibrating
  2. conduct static pressure measurement
  3. measure the pressure in the exhausted room
  4. measure the pressure in the pressurised room
  5. make an evaluation with the use of INFILTEC DM4
  6. prepare a diagram
  7. prepare a protocol

Should the value not reach the 10 minutes prescribed by the norms, an additional opening should be found and sealed until the prescribed value is reached. The examination does not extend to the designing/dimensioning of the extinguishing system and to the checking of its operational capability. The integrity test (doorfan test) must be repeated on every occasion there is a change in the room's tightness due to any architectural alteration or reconstruction.
